Life in Oxford Harmonic Choir

There are plenty of opportunities to get to know fellow singers in rehearsal breaks and at choir social events. We also have an active Facebook page.

We meet on Tuesdays from 7.30 to 9.30 (with a break at 8.30) in the spacious and well-heated St Andrew’s Church, Linton Road, Oxford OX2 6UG. (Click on the map at the bottom of the page to see the location.)

We prepare for three major concerts a year, and there is a break over the summer after the third concert. Scores are provided by the choir to be either bought or hired.

From time to time, we enjoy choral training sessions with highly respected choral trainer Suzi Digby to help us develop our singing skills.

Rehearsals for the next concert will begin on Tuesday 12 September 2023.

The annual subscription for the 2023–24 season is £210.
The subscription for two terms’ membership is £155.
The subscription for one term’s membership is £83.
The student rate is £40 per annum, or £14 per term.

The sub is an annual fee for membership.  For convenience it can be paid in instalments (at extra cost) but the commitment is for the year whether or not you sing all the terms/concerts.

For the 2023/24 season only the sub for those paying in instalments will be capped at £210 by reducing the final payment.

New members joining after the first term are asked to pay for the remaining terms only, just in that first year.

How to join us

Membership is open to all aged 18 or over after passing a short voice test. If you are interested in joining the choir please contact our membership secretary who will arrange for you to come to two or three rehearsals to see if you would like to join. If you decide to continue, you will be asked to do an informal voice test with our conductor. There is no sight-singing test, but you need to be able to read music and be confident that you can learn pieces relatively quickly.
