Our composer
We are excited to announce that in June 2019 we will be performing a brand new piece composed for us by the winner of our 2017 composition competition, David Lancaster. David won against many outstanding entries in a field of over 80 applicants and was described by the judges as ‘an exciting composer with a truly individual voice’,
Of Trumpets and Angels
David has now started work, taking as his inspiration two of John Donne’s Holy Sonnets from which he has drawn the title of the piece, Of Trumpets and Angels. The sonnets are At the round earth’s imagined corners and Death, be not proud.
We are very much looking forward to working on the piece with David and to performing it in Oxford Town Hall on 29 June 2019.
